Choose the plant, not a pest-control promise
Tagetes marigolds are not the same plant as pot marigold, Calendula. Read the botanical name and mature dimensions on the label. Plant them because their size, season, and flowers suit the garden; they are not a general shield against vegetable pests.
Give the flowers room
Use the recommended spacing in a well-drained site. Compact French marigold varieties can fit border edges, while taller types need more room. Keep a clear gap at paths so foliage does not hide seedlings or prevent easy access.
Care and review
Check moisture after transplanting and during dry spells. Remove fading flowers if continued display is your aim. Note which variety performed well in your conditions before buying the same type next season. These profiles are for ornamental growing, not instructions to eat flowers.
